The initial development phase for the script to begin Mizozo data migration to WordPress is now complete. Keep in mind, this is trivial in the grand scheme of things, but it is at least the first major step.
Currently, I have developed the ability to parse through Mizozo's data and create and XML file that is accepted by WordPress as a valid importable file. There are plenty of bugs (haven't tested a great deal yet), but at least I have the bulk of the logic in place.
There is still the trick of moving the images across. Currently, they aren't showing up at all, which doesn't conform well to my initial premise that the XML is complete. While the XML of the images are there, their physical presence is not, so I am mostly correct. I haven't really determined where to put them yet, so I can't actually move them. Mizozo's image directory structure is vastly different from WordPress, so the question is do I conform or do I hack. Conforming seems the way to go, but a hack for older files can't be that bad, can it?
Once data is safely migrated, a much larger piece is waiting, namely the GUI design. I am not sure how far to take it, but I get the feeling that the next site will be significantly different. Seeing as how WordPress offers a wide variety of different widgets, these too will change. And, if we are already changing so much, it may be time to come up with a new Logo. The current logo has been with us since inception, and with so much changing, I think its time we change that too.
... there is, of course, more but those are mostly just details.
Anyway, I am happy that I am finally done with the first major piece. Thinking about how much work is ahead, however, I can only hope that I will have the brunt of this ready by the new year. I expect to release this new version by the first quarter of 2014, but please don't hold me to that.

The October Numbers for Mizozo
Its time to review our numbers for the month of October.
Well, our steady decline in visitors is felt once more this month, but I would like to point out one thing that is going on. Since about mid-September, I stopped promoting Mizozo myself. I have decided to see how the numbers would bottom out given no promotion by myself. Since I am not motivated by profit, and am doing this strictly for science, it wasn't a difficult decision to make. Although, I might point out, there are times when this is much more difficult, for example when there's a great story posted that I know I could spin.
Looking at the numbers, the site seemed to bottom out by mid-October, but then began a slow rise. I can't really attribute this to anything, but the rise is definitely there. If you want to look at it yourself, just check out this month's posted Google Analytics report.
Another thing of note is the fact that now that I am not promoting Mizozo, our pages per visit have increased significantly. Definitely a step in the right direction.
The experiment is far from over, so get used to seeing the lower numbers for a while. Now that the WordPress migration is in full swing, I don't have nearly as much time for promoting Mizozo as I once did, so this works out all for the best. Also, given the fact that we are no longer doing prizes, my friends aren't promoting which is also a major factor, and I can finish off the year with a few more experiments.
Visitors: 79,413
Page Views: 153,950
Pages Per Visit: 1.94
Earnings: $234.54
