Mizozo runs on Blue Mile!

In our effort to provide a better user experience for our users, we have changed our web-hosting company from 1and1 to Blue Mile. So, now Mizozo.com runs on bluemile!

In our 8+ years experience of providing IT solutions, we have exclusively recommended 1and1 for web-hosting. But unfortunately, we would like to reverse our opinion. Please only pick them as our web hosting company if you don't care about issues around billing, customer service and unscrupulous practices.

And yes, there are a lot of advantages for switching to Blue Mile
  • Survival - Billing issues at 1and1 were eating into our Design and Development budget. (Despite messages to 1and1's customer service, press team and CEO, nothing really happened)
  • Extra Bandwitdh - With BlueMile, we can increase our bandwidth on "as-needed" basis. Which means, we can keep growing without worrying about technical limitations.
  • Better Servers - We have signed up for bigger, better, faster, more powerful and reliable servers.
  • Better Web-hosting Company - BlueMile is a great company that is growing the same way we are growing - fast!

Credibility of Crowd-Supported Journalism

While presenting our vision to people over the past two years, we have heard a lot of questions similar to -
  1. Do you really think that news on Mizozo.com can have any credibility?
  2. Can you compete with the hundreds (if not thousands) of reporters working for News-based companies like CNN, BBC, etc.?
(Courtesy: Healthy You Band Center)

Our responses -
1. Yes! Citizen journalism provides a perspective to news, but crowd-supported citizen journalism add credibility using the concept of - Wisdom of the Crowd. The wisdom of the crowd refers to the process of taking into account the collective opinion of a group of individuals rather than a single expert to answer a question. In our case, instead of one person reporting a news story, we let anyone report, refute, add or argue to the facts/reports in the story with a response mizozo. Since Mizozo.com is free to use, anyone can register and start the response mizozo. Further, the site is devoid of any bias to country, religion, political view and/or association, so the wisdom of crowd provides truly credible information.

2. Doesn't apply! We are not trying to compete with traditional media websites like CNN, BBC, Fox News, etc. Most of these News-based companies have already realized that social networking and citizen journalism is important for them. The next step for them is crowd-supported news, where facts come on top and bias gets removed. In all, Mizozo.com facilitates media companies with better information and source.

In conclusion, the crowd-supported portion of Mizozo.com, that allows users to respond to an article with their own facts, adds the element of credibility to news.

Publisher: Top reasons to publish at Mizozo.com

Couple of years ago, when we started Mizozo.com, we did ask ourselves a question - Why would anyone publish at Mizozo.com? Two years later, we have compiled some of the top answers that we have heard from our current publishers -

Its Free
Mizozo.com is absolutely free. You can register for free, publish for free, start a mizozo for free, add pictures for free, etc.

Get Heard
Are you tired of getting your facts lost under the scores and threads of comments? Why not start a "Mizozo" instead, where you can post your facts, sources and media to refute to the original article.

Freedom
Freedom by definition is "the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint." Publish at Mizozo.com to excersice your freedom. Start a "Mizozo" to an existing article if you want to add, refute, argue or collaborate to the original story - to prove that your state of being free!

More Readers
Starting your own news-based blog is a great idea but are you getting enough traffic? At Mizozo.com, depending on the quality of an article you can get up to 1 million unique visitors. Almost 30% of the articles posted on Mizozo.com get 3000+ pageviews in the first couple of days. Why not post at Mizozo.com and get more readers to add, refute, comment, mizozo or just read your articles?

Interactive - Social News
In the age of social networking, why should we not adapt to social news? Social news is user generated and developed news which requires users to interact with each other by collaborating, refuting, arguing and/or adding on the original facts and story.

No Bias
Similar to our take on news, we as a website are not biased to users. We don't care about your years at Mizozo.com or the quality of your earlier articles. Each article published on the site is treated equal. Please note that featured articles are popular articles that selected automatically.

Simple Design
We designed the website to keep it simple for everyone - irrespective of you computer proficiency level. We also actively take feedback from users (admin@mizozo.org) for changes that will help the site to be even better.
